Laguna Labor Advocate Who Has "Polio" Not Exempted From Arrests |

Labor rights group Center for Trade Union and Human Rights (CTUHR) expresses alarm over the arrest of another labor advocate from Calamba, Laguna who has polio since birth, yesterday around 12 noon.
He was Emmanuel Deonida, 42, executive director of Labor Education Advocacy Development Response Services (LEADER). He was among the 72 Southern Tagalog (ST-72) activists charged with murder and multiple frustrated murders they allegedly committed in Mindoro sometime in 2006.

Arnaldo Seminiano and Sonny Gum-o, both union organizers of
Ilaw-Buklod ng Manggagawa (IBM), were nabbed by 4 policemen, 2 of which
are in civilian clothes, around 10am this morning at Manggahan, General
Trias Cavite. Seminiano was arrested on trumped-up charges of murder and
multiple frustrated murders filed against him together with other 72 S.
Tagalog activists (ST-72), including labor lawyer Remigio Saladero Jr.

It had proven once again that in both good and most especially hard times, it will always take side for the capitalists' greed and unrelenting desire for profit," this is how Center for Trade Union and Human Rights (CTUHR) executive director Daisy Arago reacted in response to the wage freeze announced by the labor department Friday. |

CTUHR slams QC gov't agencies for abuse of "eminent domain" Quezon City government is set to wipe-off a 105 sq. meters community that has been homes for 30 years to around 70 families of textile workers along E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave., Libis Quezon City allegedly to give way for the "extension" of QCPD Police station 8 and Libis Fire station. Residents protest the plan that according to them does not only smells fishy but looks tricky. A QUEZON CITY INTER-AGENCY COMMITTEE ON CLEARING OPERATIONS AT GENTEX, led by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and QCPD was already formed to effect the plan.
